Iwona Drozdz therapy

Talking is the key. Hearing oneself speak is a very important part of getting to know oneself, deepening the primary relationship – the one with ourselves.

Being heard and being witnessed is also a very important element in the healing process. Creating a safe, confidential space in which this process can be housed. I will invite you to tell your story, your sense of how you got where you are today, what you are feeling and what you don’t want to be feeling.

I will help you heal through relating, which means that I bring myself into the therapeutic relationship with you, making use of body and mind connections to explore the presenting complex issues, and sharing my responses, thoughts and feelings with you.

As an ‘Integrative therapist’, I draw upon a combination of ideas and techniques, and I work with you as a whole person, paying attention to both the physical and psychological processes and how they are connecting together.

I am a trauma-informed, Brainspotting (phase 2) and IFS-trained practitioner (please view my profile here) using neuroscience to support healing in the aftermath of trauma. Through continued professional development courses, I have become accustomed to combining therapeutic methods, Body Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems and Mindfulness to facilitate a reconnection with the body and self. I am committed to delivering such interventions in a compassionate, collaborative, and inclusive way.

My training includes the Complex Trauma Certification Training Levels 1 & 2 (CCTP/ CCTP—II), Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) by Janina Fisher, and the Safety & Stabilization Course (Complex Trauma Work during the 1st and 2nd phase of trauma recovery) with the Complex Trauma Institute.

I have worked within an NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service and bereavement services. I also work with a charity specialising in supporting survivors of sexual violence and abuse, particularly survivors of child sexual abuse and trauma.

My therapeutic work is grounded in Contemporary Psychotherapy. This integrative solution-focused model combines and utilises the main models of psychotherapy, from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to Humanistic and Existential theories, as well as Ericksonian hypnosis. I also hold a certificate as an NLP practitioner.

Let's start a healing conversation

I graduated with Diploma from BeeLeaf Institute in Contemporary Psychotherapy.

How I can help you

It can be hard to reach out when you are in need of help. The best way to start to heal is by simply talking things through. Let's start your healing process by taking this first step.

The work of therapy is there to help you understand yourself, the way you are in the world and to potentially reconnect you with long-lost feelings. Connecting you to what is emotionally true can be both calming and revitalising and can support you to think with more flexibility and help you to develop emotional resilience.

Therapy takes place over an appropriate period of time for each person and is flexible according to your needs and resources. It can be short term - usually 6 to 12 sessions structured and focused on solving the identified problem or situation. Or it can be long term - lasting from a few months up to a few years, helping to explore more deep-rooted issues or difficulties.

Psychotherapy can support you with a range of issues. The following is an example of some of the issues that people may wish to seek therapy for:

Family and relationship issues or difficulties
Sadness, depression, emptiness
Lack of confidence, low self-esteem, issues around self-worth
Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
Anxiety, stress, panic or fear
Trauma
Abuse – sexual, physical, emotional, financial, bullying
Obsessive or addictive behaviour
Identity, belonging, motivation and purpose
Loneliness, isolation, intimacy and connection
Bereavement, loss and grief
Illness, death and dying
Work-related issues or stress
Life transitions and change
Existential issues – the meaning of life

Online appointments

The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we live and work and online counselling has now becoming a common practice preferred by both clients and therapists.

The research consistently shows that online treatment can be as effective as face- to face therapy and many clients are now meeting their therapist online. I offer online sessions via Skype, FaceTime or Zoom for residents of the UK and Europe. After booking the first session, you will receive an email confirmation containing access details for joining the session and an online therapy agreement.

Fee: £60 per session (50 mins), including our initial session.

Cancellations: Once we agree on a date and time for our meeting, I will collect the payment in advance of the session to complete the booking process.

Should you not be able to attend the session, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can reschedule it. I am available to reschedule sessions if I receive more than 48 hours of notice, and it is only possible to reschedule sessions once.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48-hour notice are non-refundable.

Availability: Appointments are available six days each week, and sessions start on the hour. No appointments are available on Sundays or on public holidays in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland.
